Abstract

This chapter discusses in detail the core component of any blockchain system, i.e., consensus algorithms. First, the definition of consensus algorithm is presented and then we discussed the functionality of consensus algorithm. We further discussed state-of-the-art consensus algorithm used in various blockchain systems. We also discussed how consensus algorithm deals with attacks.
