Abstract

This chapter presents the background of ledgers and highlighted how distributed ledger technology evolved with the passage of time. We then focus on blockchain (a distributed ledger) and mention features of a blockchain system. To demonstrate the effectiveness of blockchain technology, we present a food supply chain example and use of blockchain in it.
