Abstract

During the summer of 2004, U.S. Senator Edward “Ted” Kennedy told the Senate Judiciary Committee that he was stopped at the airport five times in March and April of that year (Goo 2004). When attempting to check in at the airport, airlines staff would refuse to issue a ticket. When pressed as to why, staff were unable to offer a justification despite the senator’s 42 years of flying through East Coast airports.
