Abstract

The use of biologic therapies is becoming increasingly popular in the treatment of sports medicine injuries including tendon injury, ligamentous injury, cartilage injury, and osteoarthritis. We have developed the ability to use autologous biologics during surgery to enhance healing and this book describes those techniques in detail. This chapter focuses on platelet-rich plasma and bone marrow concentrate especially their use in the outpatient setting. We also focus on the research surrounding the use of biologic therapy.
