Social Competence and Social Skills

Abstract

In this chapter, specific guidelines are presented for conducting SST programs, considering the planning proposed in the previous chapter. Before focusing on conducting the sessions themselves, more detailed guidelines are given for conducting two kinds of activities that may be more difficult for the professional who is starting out in this area: experiential activities and interpersonal homework. To carry out the program sessions, a session planner that guides the therapist or facilitator’s actions is suggested. Finally, a section on applying SST programs during individual intervention is presented. Group intervention and individual intervention are illustrated using case descriptions.
