Abstract
This chapter presents Mark Lynes’ personal rationale and understanding of receiving Direct Payments (DP). Its key aim is to detail how the concepts related to DP of choice, control and flexibility have had direct relevance to Mark’s life. It will then outline the lived experienced related to the process of receiving and the outcomes experienced from receiving DP. The chapter concludes with an analysis of changes that could be made to improve the lived experiences of recipients of DP.
