Abstract
This chapter presents Francesca Crozier-Roche’s personal experiences of having her child being made the subject of a care order. This details her experiences of having a child taken into care, negotiating with children’s social care, encountering multiple assessments, the court system, challenging the decisions and eventually having the child returned from the care system. The chapter considers the impacts that this has had both in relation to both the parent and child. It concludes by outlining some possible improvements that could be made when a local authority initiates and undertakes care proceedings.
