Abstract
Human–robot collaboration (HRC) in manufacturing aims to realise an environment where humans can work side by side with robots in close proximity. In such a collaborative setup, the humans and the robots share the same workspace, the same resources, and in some cases the same tasks. Through HRC, higher overall productivity and better product quality can be achieved. While a set of innovative solutions to manufacturing problems are presented in different chapters of this book based on the symbiosis between humans and robots, this closing chapter aims to highlight remaining challenges and future research directions, and outline continued research efforts and industrial practices of the years to come.
