Abstract
We listened to each other, we learned together, and we came to trust each other. Dr. B understands and acknowledges that our lived experience in managing Addison’s medical needs over the years carries equal weight with what was learned in medical school. Dr. B’s willingness to be vulnerable, to admit when he is wrong, and his taking time to know us, not just as parents of a patient but as people with common interests, displays a rare humanity that is often missing in the doctor-patient relationship.
