Abstract

The Introduction raises a series of affinities between Kracauer’s writings and non-orthodox Marxism, showing not only the influence that this has on the works of the German thinker, but also to what extent a reflection on Marxist bases could extract from him useful and provocative elements. It is also dedicated to examine some milestones in the path that the figure of the modern intellectual travelled, from its origins in the European Restoration to the present, in order to make some critical and methodological proposals inspired by Kracauer’s theories.
