Techniques in Minimally Invasive Surgery

Abstract

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the standard of care for the majority of gallbladder pathology, including cholecystitis, cholelithiasis, and biliary dyskinesia. The essential preoperative workup includes a liver function test and gallbladder imaging modality, of which right upper quadrant ultrasound is the gold standard. In Chap. 11, the 11 steps to performing a laparoscopic cholecystectomy are described, as well as troubleshooting techniques, complications, and postoperative management.
