Abstract
There is a rising rate of end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) in children attributable to congenital and acquired urological abnormalities. These congenital defects and acquired causes may adversely affect the development and functionality of the urinary system, leading to chronic kidney disease (CKD). Evaluation and treatment of children with CKD requires a sound understanding of the underlying pathology, the causes of kidney failure and special consideration to important dialysis and kidney transplant factors.
