Abstract

Process perfection is the most important stage in the entire process management cycle. The chapter presents different approaches to the improvement of production and administrative processes. Attention is drawn to the fact that while production processes can relate to over a century of tradition and numerous, well-established methods and tools dedicated to the improvement of work efficiency, in non-production institutions one still has to rely on individualized project approach. In the context of both types of organizations, the classical and contemporary approaches to process perfection are discussed. In the case of production companies, the most popular contemporary systems include Kaizen and Six Sigma, while in the context of public administration the agile approach to process improvement is the most prevalent, although one can also observe a trend towards adopting tools successfully utilized in production companies and adapting them to the specific needs and requirements of administration.
