Abstract

Interleaved Spread Spectrum OFDM (ISS-OFDM) is a new spread-spectrum modulation method which is similar to conventional OFDM. Despite properties of the signal itself are quite well studied, the problem of synchronisation remains unsolved. This study is focused on ISS-OFDM baseline synchronisation design. A novel sampling clock offset estimation algorithm is proposed and compared with an approach which is classical in OFDM systems. Simulation of ISS-OFDM communication system shows that the novel SCO estimator is more robust. The entire communication system is modeled as well. It can operate at negative signal-to-noise ratios with acceptable bit error rate.
