Abstract
This volume is composed of articles that present how the politicization of history in the countries of the former Yugoslavia has taken root and become a key element in creating new myths and narratives that legitimize various nationalists’ claims to control nation states. Misinterpreting historical facts, relativizing war crimes, excluding others, domination—nationalistic ideology continues to build up social environments that keep political ideologies of conflict and division alive. The common historical narrative of the entire region has been brought into question by conflicting interpretations in a quest to show who has the most accurate version and the most legitimacy.
