Abstract
The fiberoptic bronchoscope is a valuable tool but can be challenging to maneuver. This is especially true for anesthesiologists who may typically reserve use of the fiberoptic bronchoscope for challenging airways. Hence, it is important to gain experience with manipulating and troubleshooting the fiberoptic bronchoscope in a controlled setting so that when the need arises to use it in an unanticipated difficult airway, the anesthesiologist is comfortable and adept. This chapter discusses basic techniques for handling a fiberoptic bronchoscope.
