Abstract
There is widespread, and justified, concern about the wellbeing of our society. Emanating from every corner of our global village are voices that, together, describe a Happiness Lost. We hear lamentations of the modern landscape as a spiritual wasteland. We are constantly reminded of the physical decline of entire populations. We learn about the intellectual apathy of our time and all too often see the death of relationships. As a result, all around us, and frequently within ourselves, we’re witnessing unprecedented pervasiveness of emotional bankruptcy.
“Happiness quite unshared can scarcely be called happiness—it has no taste.”
—Charlotte Bronte
