Abstract
Since his arrival in the presidency of the United States, Donald Trump reiterated his campaign promise to build a wall on the border with Mexico. Its objective is to establish a physical brake on the “undesirable” elements that Trump considers to be Mexicans and Central Americans. The reality is that the problem is not limited only to the northern border of Mexico but also to the southern border. The only solution seems to be a regional trading system. Mexico is a key country at the geographical level for migrants, which is why it must become a key country at the level of negotiations.
