Abstract
Infectious diseases is a popular advanced elective rotation for medical students, particularly those interested in pursuing an Internal Medicine residency. Written by medical students for medical students, this chapter covers exactly what a student should know and do to excel on the Infectious Diseases rotation. Highlights include an introduction to how to think about infectious symptoms, an overview of common microbes, and an in-depth look at how to understand and think about rather than memorize antibiotics. Specific attention is given to pointers that empower students to shine and demonstrate their mastery of infectious diseases.
