Abstract

In this Chapter we review the main social and cultural factors that have impaired the development of the CCS technology in Spain and elsewhere, with a special focus on the hurdles encountered in the development of the Compostilla project and the actions that were taken to unlock the situation at a local scale. Honest and trustworthy scientific information and open dialogue were the key factors for success.
