Abstract
This chapter discusses how the Latin American perspective of communication is deeply related to the experience of popular communication, because it cannot be read apart from the social and political experience and the popular actor that carries it out. The article highlights as well how community and popular process of communication in Latin America is marked by Christian praxis supported by liberation theology in its different meanings and by the practice of grassroots ecclesial communities.
