Abstract
Often pop and rock venues are opened in already existing buildings that were constructed for another purpose such as a factory or a cinema. In recent years, dedicated buildings for the purpose of musical performance have been constructed. In the first case, the overall building geometry is fixed, leaving limited room for acoustic optimization, whereas new construction leaves many parameters open for the architect, acoustic consultant, and the designer of the loudspeaker system as well as the lighting system.
