Abstract

In this chapter, one of the most frequent endocrine disorders will be discussed. Hypothyroidism – overt or subclinical – is the second commonest endocrine disease after diabetes mellitus. Hypothyroidism is the consequence of insufficient thyroid hormone production and action. It can be primary, secondary, and tertiary hypothyroidism, but primary hypothyroidism is the most common form.
