Abstract
This concluding chapter makes clear that Korczak’s view, although developed in a specific time span, and under specific social, cultural and political circumstances, carries a universal meaning about the humanity of the child, about his or her right to respect, and to a voice. It gives rise to a thorough reconstruction of the way children and pupils are dealt with in our educational institutions. This concerns more than (or perhaps not at all) the ‘application’ of scientific knowledge to education: it requires in the first place a wisdom of practice, and a certain ethos, a ‘standpoint’, from teachers and educators.
