Global Cleft Care in Low-Resource Settings

Abstract

Cleft lip and palate (CLP) is the most common congenital craniofacial anomaly and constitutes about 13% of all congenital anomalies. The CLP has wide range presentations and severity. Understanding the embryology and anatomy of the deformity is the key point for the treatment. This chapter aims to present the basis of anatomical distortions and highlight some important variations and discuss about its classification.
