Abstract
Angiomatosis is a benign lesion of vascular origin. Although included in the World Health Organization classification of benign tumors, it is unclear whether it should be considered a neoplasm or a malformation.

Notes
- 1.
PIK3CA encodes for phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate 3-kinase catalytic subunit alpha, the catalytic subunit of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) that phosphorylates phosphatidylinositol to generate phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate (PIP3), which is dephosphorylated by the protein product of tumor suppressor gene PTEN (a negative regulator of the PI3K-AKT pathway). PIP3 plays a key role by recruiting PH domain-containing proteins to the membrane, including AKT1 and PDPK1, activating signaling cascades involved in cell growth, survival, proliferation, motility, and morphology in response to various growth factors (e.g., EGF, insulin, IGF1, VEGFA, and PDGF). PIK3CA is the most recurrently mutated gene in breast cancer and has been found to important in a number of cancer types (PIK3CA is considered an oncogene).
