Intrapartum Ultrasonography for Labor Management

Abstract

Placenta accreta spectrum disorders are an emerging pathology, including various degrees of severity. Pregnant women with placenta previa and one or more previous cesarean sections are at high risk for PAS, so they should be addressed to a reference center for diagnosis and management of such pathology. Ultrasound is the gold standard for prenatal diagnosis of PAS, and in the last years, authors have proposed standardized diagnostic criteria, in the attempt of reducing errors, ensuring a more individualized surgical management, and predicting outcomes.
