Abstract
Despite advances in neuroimaging and biomarkers, a diagnosis of AD depends heavily on quick and easy-to interpret cognitive testing. Out of several such tests, this guide recommends the Rowland Universal Dementia Assessment Scale (RUDAS) for non-specialist clinicians. In addition, this chapter emphasises the importance of assessing functional ability, both basic (dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting and feeding) and instrumental (such as preparing meals, performing household chores, travelling, managing appointments and finance etc.) activities of daily living (ADL).
