Abstract
Diana Riboli and Davide Torriās introduction to the present volume takes into account relevant anthropological literature focusing on the topics of environmental crisis, disasters, adaptations, and resilience. In times of dramatic events and fast changing paradigms, while looking at the aftermath of past disasters or in the midst of unfolding ones, it could be useful to broaden our perspective by re-thinking the relationship between people and planet. As words and concepts like climate change, global warming, Anthropocene, indigenous eco-cosmologies and ontological views are becoming more and more popular in mainstream culture, the editors and contributors of this specific volume focus on several contexts from diverse parts of the world in order to draw some lessons on navigating turbulent times ahead.
