Abstract

A nursing student in the sophomore year of a baccalaureate program attempts suicide. Despite receiving counseling and medical therapy, the university places her on medical leave. The student appeals the decision but the appeal is denied. Faculty are concerned that the student will pose a danger to herself and to patients.
