Abstract
Pediatric joint pain in active, growing children can include inflamed growth plates. When the anterior tibial growth plate is involved, it is often referred to as tibial tuberosity apophysitis or by its eponym Osgood Schlatter’s disease. Treatment consists mostly of rest, ice, and gentle stretching. In severe cases, surgery should be considered, if the growth plate fragments and pain persist. Osgood Schlatter’s disease symptoms may last for months.
