Abstract

Jean Trân Thanh Vân, or simply “Van” among his friends and acquaintances, left his home country at the age of 17 to escape the Vietnam War. He went to France to pursue a career in physics, which was his dream. His accomplishments in theoretical particle physics would suffice to categorize his career as successful, yet perhaps most influential has been his tireless efforts on behalf of the scientific community.
