Ambivalences of Inclusion in Society and Social Work

Abstract

This chapter considers and compares the four country studies with regard to the ambivalences of inclusion in society and social work. The comparison focuses on four key aspects: concepts of inclusion, changes in welfare structures, the position of social work in relation to the previous two aspects, and perspectives on the future of inclusion. The chapter concludes by discussing approaches to inclusion and future prospects with reference to Erik Olin Wright’s concept of a real utopia.
