Advances in Psoriasis

Abstract

Ixekizumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that selectively targets IL-17A which has shown to be highly effective in the treatment of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. This chapter reviews the efficacy and safety profile of ixekizumab for the treatment of psoriasis based on clinical studies to date. Studies demonstrate that ixekizumab is highly effective in the treatment of moderate-to-severe psoriasis and the majority of patients achieve high clearance rates. Uncommon adverse events reported during ixekizumab therapy, included neutropenia, candida infections, and inflammatory bowel disease, however long-term safety data beyond 5 years is not yet available.
