Exemplifying the Book Material in Real Interviews

Abstract

The concluding chapter offers a commentary on the comprehensive analysis of three roughly half-a-minute excerpts from radio interviews. In addition to the sound files with the excerpts, the chapter companion includes Praat annotation files with phonetic transcriptions and intonation markings. This analysis and the commentary exemplifies various speaking habits covered in the preceding chapters in situated dialogues and further contextualizes the understanding and awareness of these habits. This comprehensive analysis and commentary of extended speech material is unique for this type of book. It promotes the descriptive approach to speech, and further encourages the book users to engage with speech in its multi-dimensional complexity and compare their views with those of the author.
