Food Festivals and Local Development in Italy

Abstract

The chapter focuses on the economic contribution given by the food festivals to rural community by exploring ethnographically the case of Sant’Ambrogio and its feast. The chapter points out the important contribution given in fostering collaboration among the different economic actors of the community and the actual function hold by the festivals in terms of economic development. In so doing, it points out at the possible limits that food festivals have.
