Abstract
This chapter focuses on identifying ways to improve trauma care using human factors approaches. Two cases are analyzed: one demonstrates the effects of a system that is not functioning optimally, while the other represents a situation where things go well. The authors discuss interventions that have been both successful and unsuccessful in improving the process and discuss the importance of obtaining input from frontline providers and trialing interventions, especially those involving the introduction of complex technology.
