Abstract
In countries as diverse as the USA, France, Germany, the Lebanon, Iran and Hong Kong, mass protests have been mobilised against governments about insecurity of employment and earnings. Apart from a small international financial elite, a growing proportion of citizens feel at risk, and recognise that their standards of living are likely to stagnate or fall. This chapter analyses the likely future course of such trends.
