Abstract

The studies were performed on two traditional casting alloys: CoCrW and NiCr used in dental applications. The work analyzes the influence of surface modification on their physicochemical and electrochemical properties. The tested samples were obtained by the use of the casting techniques and in the next stage, they were subjected to the surface modifications. In the group of tested samples, can be distinguished: mechanical grinded, sandblasted, oxidized, and sterilization samples. The research for the samples consisted: surface roughness measurements and contact angle measurements, pitting corrosion resistance test, and the EIS test. Additionally, the microscopic observation and study of chemical composition were performed. Results and their analysis have shown that the samples after the oxidation process were characterized by optimal properties—low value of R\(_{a}\) parameter and was recorded and for a wetting account, values close to 90\(^{\circ }\) were obtained. Additionally, the progress of polarization curves of oxidized samples was characteristic for the material of high corrosion resistance. Based on the obtained results, it can be concluded that the surface modification has an effect on properties characterized by CoCrW alloy and NiCr alloy.
