Abstract
When wood is processed by machines, the chip slides on the surface of the tool and friction work transforms into heat. Most of this heat flows into the direct surroundings of the edge tool. Depending on the friction power, the area of the edge warms up and the temperature on the surface of the edge can reach a large value.
