Abstract
Functional symptoms are currently defined as “physical” disorders that are not attributable to an underlying organic disease and of which a psychogenic origin is assumed. The neurological functional symptoms (paresis, visual disturbance, tremor, etc.) represent an important challenge for the clinician, due to the high prevalence, the difficulties in the differential diagnosis with various common neurological diseases, and the poor treatment outcomes. In the present chapter you will find the main diagnostic and therapeutic issues regarding the neurological evaluation of subjects with functional disorders in emergency.
