Abstract
In this study, we investigated changes in brain activity after performing three protocols incorporating the Sternberg task. Three sets were performed: the Sternberg task, the Sternberg + a visual recognition task, and the Sternberg + an auditory recognition task. In the present experiment, θFz/αPz obtained from electroencephalograms was used as an electrophysiological evaluation, the semantic differential method and NASA Task Load Index as subjective evaluations, and the correct answer rates of the three tasks as an action evaluation. The results showed that during the retention period, the degree of concentration was low in only the Sternberg task. The Sternberg task also had the highest correct answer rate. The Sternberg + visual recognition task was rated as the most tiring with the largest workload. In conclusion, based on the encoding and θFz/αPz recognition periods, the Sternberg + visual recognition task was considered to be more difficult than the Sternberg + auditory recognition task.
