Abstract
In this work, we consider an enclosed hunting area where humans have a great influence on game breeding. The focus is on the scientific management of game populations, harvest management, and other significant factors affecting game populations. In particular, we study the problem of red deer trophy production in the hunting area “Vorovo” in Serbia, which involves many objectives of breeding such as: (1) reach the prescribed optimal population structure, (2) keep high the number of trophy candidates, which are male deers 8–10 years old. These aspects of population dynamics control are embedded in a document called Game Management Plan, which guides the management of a hunting area for 10 year timeframes. We present a new model for the Game Management Plan that puts the problem on mathematical ground and improves significantly the current management strategy.
