Abstract
This chapter provides methods for sample size calculation for superiority or difference tests that do not rely on the assumption of normal distribution. The situations of two groups with continuous or ordered categorical data are considered. For the latter, the cases that the assumption of proportional odds holds true or cannot be assumed to hold true, respectively, are distinguished.
