Abstract

In patients with a symptomatic discoid lateral meniscus, arthroscopic saucerization with or without stabilization is currently the gold standard for surgical intervention, with total meniscectomy reserved for only unsalvageable meniscus pathology. Abnormal cartilage contract stresses may persist despite saucerization, predisposing patients to early arthritis.
