Abstract

This chapter focuses on the self-organised refugee activism in Berlin which led to the formation of various refugee- and migrant-led groups and solidarity initiatives in Berlin. The chapter demonstrates that the refugee tent protests went beyond the idea of citizenship such that migration was understood to be linked to the economic instability of countries on account of colonial legacies and neocolonialism. This chapter shows that the refugee tent protests consisted of dynamic groups of citizens and activists, which led to the formation of heterogeneous views.
