Abstract

Correcting nasal septal deformities is the “key” for a successful nasal tip surgery, particularly caudal septum. The height, strength and location of the caudal septum are essential for tip support. Septal correction can be complex particularly when there is severe trauma, particularly early childhood trauma. Septoplasty is the commonly performed nasal valve surgery. Apart from septoplasty, an awareness of various available techniques as a reconstructive step ladder of the nasal septum is essential, as more than one technique may be needed to address the septal issues. The credit for this type of approach to the nasal septum goes to my Scottish colleague Mr. White. I would thoroughly recommend this approach as it works very well in my thought process in approaching different septal deformities.
