Abstract

What are the traits of innovators? How can one be more innovative? How does shared language contribute to innovation? Given the complexity of innovation, there is a growing and urgent need for “T” professionals who can speak and operate across disciplinary boundaries by drawing on skills and knowledge from various streams of research in order to develop their own depth in a particular area. They are system thinkers and adaptive innovators. Instead of searching for “random” innovators, managers need to pursue service science and “T” professionals that are trained and nested in innovation. Why are “T” professionals so fundamental to firm performance and organizational effectiveness?
