Abstract

Innovation is often viewed as an idea or solution. It is seldom viewed as an emergence that transcends across the micro, meso, and macro levels of a network or service ecosystem (Chandler and Vargo, Market Theor 11(1): 35–49, 2011). How can value and innovation be managed at each of these levels? In order to view innovation more clearly, what are the fundamental units of study (i.e., foci) at each of these levels? Why is it important to view innovation in this way?
