Abstract

This chapter surveys contemporary research on psychological safety, trust, and communication, discussing how these interpersonal, affective elements of the team experience relate to team collaboration and productivity. It then describes how mindfulness and contemplative arts practices can help to foster a sense of trust and open communication among members of a team. With this research and context in mind, the second part of the chapter lays out specific mindfulness and contemplative arts exercises designed to help foster the sense of safety and trust among teams and groups that is vital for open communication and dialogue.
